It's a New Year with a whole lot of new goals! Breaking in to comics being the major one, but I also have a goal to create more characters and pages than before. Be on the look out for more activity here and at my blog. I have a feeling that this is going to be one exciting year! Be sure to check out my comic art blog at: philiplambertart.blogspot.com/

PBS Superheroes

Last week I got the chance to watch PBS' 3 hour Superheroes documentary about the history of superheroes. I was completely amazed by how much information was put into the show. They talked about each age of comic books and how the characters and art were affected by their time. Many interviews with influential writers and artist that have made history in the industry. There is alot of information, too much to mention here. It's almost like a Comic Book History 101 course. It is an amazing show and I highly recommend it to anyone that is remotely interested in comic books! Thanks PBS!

Hello Deviants!

Recently I traveled all the way to Boston to have my portfolio reviewed by the DC Art Director Mark Chiarello and awesome artists Ed McGuinness and Brian Stelfreeze. All three were really helpful and great people to talk to. I got some really great feedback on things I can improve on like line quality and owning my "umph". I had an awesome time and well worth the hard work!

In other news I am enrolled in Comics Experience classes under Andy Schmidt and Robert Atkins. Really helpful courses, if you haven't heard about it be sure to check it out! I'm currently enrolled in intro to writing and intro to comic book art. I will be sure to upload any new work!

That's all for now, as always thanks for your support!

Books I've read this month:
World War Z (love it!)
The Infinity Gauntlet
Superman Unleashed 1 - 2
Justice League 1 - 6
The Flash 1 - 8
Batman Court of Owls
Tale of Sand

Spring Time

2 min read
Hey person reading this,

So it's been a whole month since my last journal entry here. Quite a few things have happened. The last time I made I journal I was working really hard to win at least 4 or 5 different T-shirt contests. Sadly I'm not sure if I won any of them, but through the process I learned some valuable lessons. It's the journey that counts, and it sure was a fun process. Also it was also really great to see all the support that I received. It gives me a lot of energy and makes me ready to take on the next project! (Whatever it is.)

On a side note, I've been reading a whole lot of books, some Fiction some Non - Fiction. I find that literature is really inspiring and has helped me a lot with my creativity. I remember when I first started painting dinosaurs and robots a lot of my works were kind of inspired by Bradbury and Asimov. Literature has a way of moving you in that way.

So I've come up with the bright idea to log what books I have been reading here. Maybe it will start a discussion, or maybe it will be just exercise for my fingers. So here is what I have read in the past month or so:

Avengers: #163-256 (Just the one's I own.)
Mirco by Michael Crichton
What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (I had no idea the film was coming out.)
The Art of Non-Conformity by Chris Guillebeau
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami (Loved it!)

That's what I read and finished, other than a few lame business books. Until next time!
